post office director, handwritten message dated the same day
referencing the writer’s movements with the Transkarpathen-Fahrt, a
mobile postal and supply route operated by the Austro-Hungarian
army through the southern Carpathians to support troops on the
Eastern Front, typical for Austro-Hungarian logistical and
communications routes during the intense autumn campaign of 1915,
as imperial forces pushed back against Russian troops following the
Gorlice Tarnow offensive, with mail routing through newly secured
